Winona Wenzlick Sands (1907-2002): Aunt Marian in Elsie’s Front Door Berkeley

$30.00Price

This idyllic image was created by our grandmother Winona Wenzlick Sands, capturing her aunt Marian Burr in a pensive mood at her cousin’s Elsie Overstreet’s home and garden. We love the colors and the depiction of the old wood home.

The artwork is in very good condition, but the light cream mat it is taped to is not. Unfortunately, as the artist signed the mat rather than the image. A good framer could probably extract the 1/2” signature line which includes the title and signature (W.W. Sands, her married name), but no date. It would have been created at some time before 1966 however as that is when Marian passed. Possibly as early as the 1930s or 1940s.

Mat H 15” x L 16 1/2”

Artwork H 8 1/4” x L 10 1/4”
