Winona Wenzlick Sands (1907-2002): Koh-i-Noor Pencils Ad Mock Up # 2
Our grandmother, Winona Wenzlick Sands, worked on design concepts for all sorts of companies, including gas burners, furniture shops, typewriters, and, as in this case, pencils. We believe this may have been done very early in her career, perhaps in the late 1920s.
It is signed but not dated. Nor do we know whether it resulted in any artwork for the company.
On the back of the thick old artboard, which is not very clean, are Winona’s art instructions – specific colors to use and color changes. It is scratched, as shown in photos, and needs flattening. We know there are vintage ad fans that might appreciate it as a unique décor item.
