Winona Wenzlick Sands (1907-2002): Thora (Copy)

Our grandmother, Winona Wenzlick Sands, loved doing fabulous fantastical fashion sketches. This one is entitled ‘Thora’, why we do not know. It was signed Wenzlick, suggesting it was created before she married, so sometime earlier than 1936.
 
This is a high quality color copy of the original, which we believe is in the exhibits at the California Historical Society. This piece came from an exhibit held after her passing at The Heritage in San Francisco. It has a black spot to the left of the woman’s knees and a white blotch on the left lower side from the original mat.
