Winona Wenzlick Sands (1907-2002): Travel Sketches: Bali, Indonesia (Copy)
We believe this picture depicts a hanging Rostrata flower. It is titled BALI and the original image messily signed.
Our grandmother, Winona Wenzlick Sands, sketched this while on a world tour in 1934-1935 with her aunts, the Burr sisters.
This is a high quality color copy of the original, which we believe is in the exhibits at the California Historical Society along with many of Winona Wenzlick Sands’ travel sketches. This piece came from an exhibit held after her passing at The Heritage in San Francisco. It has a white space from the torn mat of the original in the lower right corner mat. See photos.
